You know how it is when you’re exploring a new city – you have to try everything on the menu. You’re out of your element and out on the town… a combination sure to thrill, entice, and overstuff you… while jeopardizing that fitness routine you worked so hard to maintain. To help you keep to your fitness goals while you’re out of your element, here are five Arlo partners that offer an opportunity to explore some horizon-expanding new workouts in the most kinetic city in the world.

1. Tone House

32 E 31st Street, New York, NY 10016
Now that you’re all kitted up, you’re ready to crush that workout. But you didn’t come to New York to do the same old routine you do at home. While you’re in the most badass city in the world, work it like the warrior you are. Tone House, right across from Arlo NoMad, has partnered with us to offer our guests world-class training like the professional athletes get. Intense, focused, results-driven—just like New Yorkers! Tone House is team-oriented, meaning you train with a group of equally motivated people in a spirit of friendly competition and collaboration that keeps things fresh. Even if you’ve never tried a true sports conditioning workout, Tone House’s certified instructors will show you the ropes and make sure you’re comfortable as well as challenged. Choose from class options such as TH 101 for an initial introduction, or select a more focused approach and attack legs, core, total body, or whatever works best for you. The Tone House approach doesn’t just burn calories and build muscles, it builds your confidence as well… and gives you something to brag about when you get back home.

3. Surfset NYC

Join us on the rooftop for classes!
Whether you just swooped in from SOCAL, or landed from a landlocked state, you can still try your hand at surfing… and believe it or not you can do it right on the rooftops of Arlo SoHo and Arlo NoMad. (No need to hit up Coney Island or the Rockaways—this is what New Yorkers call surfing the tar beach!) If you’ve never heard of a surf workout, well, get ready to ride this amazing new wave. Think about all the benefits to your body from surfing: improved balance, cardio, core strength, just to name a few. And, oh, yeah, that spiritual state of mind when body and soul come together in harmony with the elements. Surfset NYC’s innovative approach to exercise lets surfers and non-surfers alike boogie on their boards. Classes incorporate elements from circuit training to beach volleyball to a blend of strength training, yoga, and high-intensity interval training, performed atop land-based boards that create just the right level of instability to engage your core. Whether you’re missing your favorite water sport while you’re exploring the city or trying it out for the very first time, it’s safe to say “Surf’s up–WAY up on the roof!
