At Arlo, our properties are more than just hotels, and our guests are more than customers. When you stay with us, you’re part of our community, which also includes locals in our neighborhoods, and the creators in our cities. Which is why we love bringing the best of our cities inside our walls… and in the case of Arlo SoHo’s new Living Room Gallery, right onto our walls.

On Wednesday, April 19, we were thrilled to host an opening reception for Arlo SoHo’s new Living Room Gallery, unveiling some very special artwork and giving guests a chance to meet and mingle with our exhibition’s curator, Jasmine Arakel, and with Isabelle George, special programs director for Guy Hepner, our gallery partner for the show.

“In general, you have to go to a museum or a gallery to see contemporary art, and most people do this only a few times in their lifetime,” said Jasmine Arakel at the opening reception. “Going to a museum is considered a hassle, and going to an art gallery can cause apprehension.” Which is why curating a collection of artworks like the ones now on display at Arlo SoHo is, says Arakel, “a bit of a disruptor in the art industry,” one designed to transform how the general public interacts with fine arts.

For Arlo SoHo’s Living Room Gallery, Arakel worked with gallery Guy Hepner to curate a selection of stunning pieces by Damien Hirst and Tyler Shields—giving guests the chance to view art in a laidback environment, with the chance to make a purchase if they find a piece they love.
